Zesde beta van iPhone SDK losgelaten op ontwikkelaars

Apple heeft de zesde beta van de iPhone SDK uitgebracht. De nieuwe beta heeft buildnummer 9M2192 gekregen en stelt als eis dat je Mac OS X 10.5.3 hebt geïnstalleerd, de nieuwste update van Apple’s besturingssysteem die eerder vandaag uitkwam. Dat doet vermoeden dat er op de desktopversie van Mac OS X wijzigingen zijn doorgevoerd die hun impact op de iPhone hebben.

In de releasenotes voor ontwikkelaars is onder andere te lezen:

iPhone OS
NEW: This beta release of the iPhone SDK is targeted to work only on Mac OS X 10.5.3 and is known to have compatibility issues on other OS releases, and pre-release software. If you wish to run alternate versions of Mac OS X it is recommended you keep a separate partition for the iPhone SDK and its required version of Mac OS X.
FIXED: Content purchased from iTunes Store will not sync to or play on devices with iPhone OS beta installed. iTunes will report that you need a newer update of the iPhone software to play the content.

iPhone Simulator
NEW: iPhone Simulator does not support network home directories.
FIXED: Text fields created in Interface Builder will cause a crash when they become first responder when run in the simulator. These same text fields will behave properly on the device. To work around either debug purely on devices or create your text fields programmatically.
The version of Foundation in the simulator platform includes functionality not included in iPhone OS. To ensure functionality is not used that is not present on iPhone, check the documentation for availability information.
When running the simulator, applications may behave erratically (no longer launching, hanging, returning errors, etc.). Rebooting should resolve the issue.
FIXED: Messages logged with NSLog will not appear in the Xcode run log. However, logs do appear in Console.app.
