Ze zijn gewoon bang dat er weer dingen uitlekken over nieuwe devices.
Flurry, Destimo… ook Pinchmedia is er zo een. Sommige mensen vonden zich geschaad in hun privacy (ze vonden het spyware, terecht want naast je locatie wordt ook je IP gelogged) door zo’n statistiekentool. Ook de LinkedIn en Runkeeper app gebruikten deze teller maar werd door de ontwikkelaars wegens kritiek verwijderd.
Idereen maakt zich maar druk over gegevens uitwisselen, door een telefoon of notebook met je mee te slepen doe je niet anders dan gegevens uitwisselen, dit is niets nieuws, overal maak je contact met gsm palen en wifi points, al die gegevens worden bijgehouden door de overheid… niets ondergang van weet ik al niet wat, gewoon een poging van Apple om nieuwe producten uit het nieuws te houden, we wisten tenslotte maanden voor de ipad lancering dat hij er al aan kwam, dat zou ik ook niet leuk vinden als je pretendeerd een uniek stuk te hebben ontwikkeld en japan heeft al een versie gemaakt die daar als 2 druppels op lijkt… Toch??

Seems a good idea , also seems apple dont want the real figures out in the general public as apple lie about how much is downloaded , this was highlighted on the news , apple claimed 450,000 ipads were sold and 3.5 million ipad apps were downloaded in a few days , when they worked out how many ipad apps steve claimed against the total downloads it does not add up , apple were asked to comment but refused to do so , so the end of the news report stated you have to take apples figures like a pinch of salt ( they are not real but hype ) shame apple cannot be honest as they do have huge downloads and a succesfull itunes store .

Ik denk dat Apple regelmatig eens iets laat uitlekken. Anders was die verrekte iPad nooit zo’n hype geworden. Het was al maandenlang bekend. Zelf de mockups waren bijna identiek.

Apple is a publicly traded company and as such cannot lie about things like this. They would be up for criminal and civil lawsuits before you can say “iAd”.

Not to sound as à fanboy, but they all do That, like game console maker all have fantastic numbers on consoles sold and games sold, it’s just a fancy way to manipulate the numbers to make them sound good 🙂

Ontwikkelaars hebben daar behoefte aan, omdat ze willen weten hoe goed hun applicaties presteren ten opzichte van de concurrentie.
Wat is dat nou weer voor onzin? ze MAKEN die 3rd party api, die ontwikkelaars in hun eigen app kunnen gebruiken, waarnade data naar hun servers wordt gestuurd. DAT is wat apple dus juist niet wil.
Maar goed, ben het er ook niet mee eens dat dat opeens verboden wordt.

The report over the apple figures were on both fox news and cnn ( us version ) in the us they are not as strickt as in europe just add the 3,000 apps on the ipad against the 450,000 sold ipads against the 4 million downloads it does not add up , but i also am an apple fan as well just would be nice to see real figures instead of the over estimated ones , in the uk the iphone adverts must have a text saying the speed of the iphone has been sped up and in real life is slower , this happened after apple went to court to try and stop the uk advertising board for this request , apple lost and the rest is history. And yes all gaming companies also claim more than is real , so apple is just in that club , it would only be interesting to see the real figures which would still be amazing for apple

@thumper_uk: Fan or not, that is not the issue here. How your advertising board case fits into this is not entirely clear to me. Exaggeration is a fact of advertising and a completely different thing from making up stock price sensitive numbers.
Somehow you seem to think that it is not possible for Apple to sell 4M applications to 450k iPad owners out of a pool of several thousand apps, over the course of a couple of days. This comes down to about nine (9!) apps per iPad. I am puzzled as to why you think that number is too high. Heck, if people just replace the missing Apple iPhone apps they are half-way.
Lastly, the US is very definitely NOT less strict when it comes to the information publicly traded companies can and cannot release. There is just no way any of the companies officers would take this (personal and company) risk.

@thumper_uk: I just downloaded the new IMDb app, which is for both the iPhone and the iPad (same download, same app, different on two devices). I use it on my iPhone, Apple most likely counts those also to the 4 million. And as Larrs says, not even nine apps (8.88…) per device for the early adopters, which are nearly all Apple fans, doesn’t surprise me at all.
Can you provide us with some links? I can’t find what you’re talking about.

See now that apple wont release the ipad to europe until 20 may and thats the first group , think holland will be after or the same time as the new iphone comes out ( from bbc click )
